An activity for students to work in pairs to simplify boolean expressions using Karnaugh maps. The activity was designed to use 4 sided dice, but can be completed using standard dice and rerolling if students roll a 5 or 6. The students select 2 boxes at random from the grid and then use a karnaugh map to simplify the expression.

An entrance activity that can be used at the start of any lesson to get the students to give you 5 things - they could be key terms, facts about a subject or things they remember from last lesson. Additional slides can be added to the PowerPoint to build up a bank of Gimme 5s for your subject. I go round the room and take one response from everyone once they’ve filled the sheet in to see what they’ve come up with as a group.
