Fully resourced lesson exploring the population and economy of the Middle East. All resources are included but part of the lesson requires access to Netflix to watch a short documentary on the history of oil in the region. Students learn about the population distribution of the Middle East through colouring their own Choropleth map and watch a short documentary to understand the importance of oil in the region. I usually teach this over two hours but it could be condensed to one.

Fully resourced KS3 lesson exploring the various challenges faced in the Arabian Peninsula. Based on themes in the Geog 2 textbook. Student’s locate the Arabian Peninsula and gain a better understanding of it’s physical geography. Pupils explore a variety of issues such as water stress, food shortages and life after oil and gas for those in the Middle East.

A one hour lesson aimed at KS3 exploring key physical features of the Middle East. Worksheets are included but the lesson requires pupils to have an atlas. Student’s use an atlas to find key physical features of the Middle East, explore the importance and history of the Suez Canal and learn about the impact of tectonic activity in the region.

Students learn about the climate of the Middle East, create their own choropleth map to show the three main climate zones and explore the different plants and animals found in the Middle East. A one hour factual geography lesson covering the history of conflict and tension in this area. The lesson focuses on the cause of the current conflict in this region and what impact it is having on people living there. Based on information and resources from the New York Times educational site and Newsround. Students learn about the location of the different areas, the history of conflict here, why conflict started again and the impact on children in this area. Aimed at KS3.

Fully resourced lesson aimed at KS3 on tornadoes which took place in the USA in April and May of 2024. Links to geography in the news. Lesson breaks down where tornadoes in the US occur and how they form. Students then complete an activity looking at the effects of the recent tornadoes using newspaper articles. Suitable for most KS3 classes.

Lesson planned for year 7 on sustainable tourism for an observation. Lesson would be suited to all KS3 classes. Fully resourced including worksheets and video clips. The lesson includes a decision making task and links to geography in the news.
