Lesson 1 for WJEC A 9-1 Weather, Climate and Ecosystem (Theme 5). Lesson address how climate has changed since the end of the last ice age and helps students with description. Students can complete a carousel or teacher-led activity (teacher's choice) addressing the evidence to suggest long-term climate change. Plenary involves an evaluative exam question.

Why is there a fight over water in Africa? Excellent and engaging lesson on the 'Geopolitics' of water in Africa used with Year 9s but easily adapted for higher years. Students focus in on the river Nile and consider the influence of Geography on development and conflict. Tasks include: 1. Defining water wars 2. Discussion on water flows and impact of development 3. Slide 4+5 video links and activity sheets 4. How does water create conflict vs co-operation spiderdiagram 5. Map showing dams and problems faced - could even be a description based activity

Research to be used to supplement class learning on the consequences of globalisation with case study material. Could be used as a carousel or jigsaw activity. All primary research with SEN support included as a card sort.

Final lesson for Theme 2: Rural-Urban Links (WJEC/Eduqas 9-1). Students consider the knowledge they have built on global cities, alpha cities and their two case studies. Students focus on how all global cities are connected through transport, trade, tourism and social media. Students then have an active reading task on their case studies (Mumbai and Cardiff), which is differentiated.

A complete personal learning checklist used and distributed to all students for revision purposes. It includes Landscapes and Processes (Theme 1), Rural-Urban Links (Theme 2), Tectonic Hazards and Processes (Theme 3), Weather, Climate and Ecosystems (Theme 5), Development and Resource Issues (Theme 6) and Social Development (Theme 7). It is split between different AOs with questions students can use to inform their revision. Given the lack of information and materials from the exam board, this is as best as could be devised!
