Coding an interactive quiz using Scratch scheme of work

(0)
This resource contains a series of challenges for the children to use in order to create an interactive quiz using Scratch. The main presentation contains an editable version of all of the files. It can be broken down into 4 stages, each of which has the main challenge (for most learners), a prompt sheet (containing the lines of code, but not in sequence for some learners) and the answers. Each file is also available as a separate pdf for making available to the children as an electronic resource. The aim for the unit of work is to create a series of questions for others to answer, some of which will be supported by accompanying images that the children will create. This is an ideal Computing activity to sit alongside another topic, especially English or Maths revision.

Use reasoning and arithmetic to solve a complex Maths problem

The activity file contains a range of statements about the cost of keeping a dog. Use the PowerPoint file to share differentiated learning objectives/ targets with the children and then ask them to work through the statements in the Word file. The children should then organise their own work to present to others the cost of keeping a dog over a year. This problem requires a wide range of arithmetic, as well as reasoning skills in order to organise learning and to present to others. Perfect open ended investigation for upper Key Stage 2 children.
