The scheme requires students to work in groups.<br /><br /><br /> <br /><br /><br /> Students cover a healthy human diet and why these nutrients are required, before looking at the tissues and organs of the digestive system. A basic introduction to enzymes is also included.<br /><br /><br /> <br /><br /><br /> Students produce a piece of display work which covers the topic, before completing an explanation of the digestion of a cheese burger as an assessment.

An activity that encourages students to use data to decide on the best fuel for current power stations. Based around the thinking skill activity 'mystery' students are drip fed information about the 4 fuels currently used to produce electricity - they are expected to rank the fuels in order of preference and justify their reasoning. Plenary/assessment is based around a long answer question where the students choose and justify their preferred fuel.

A series of 4 lessons (although can easily be extended to suit the class) concentrating on the scientific method - making use of the (not annoying) bottle flipping trend. Used with KS3 class as preparation for the required practical investigations at GCSE. Could easily be used with year 5 or 6 as equipment requirement is minimal.

Students are asked to answer as many of the differentiated questions (based on Blooms) as possible from their existing knowledge. As the lesson/s progress, checks on knowledge can be made at a midpoint and the end. Answers can be added to or changed as the students knowledge develops during the lesson/s. Opportunity for peer assessment and elements on competition can be introduced by 'adding up' the stars achieved for correctly answering each question.
