National Careers Week 2026
This is an assembly which is aimed at raising student aspirations - asking them to think beyond the moment they are in, but thinking about where they want to be in 1,5,10 years time. It asks the deliver to highlight to students that there are hardships and barriers everywhere, but those barriers don’t stop us - they just ask her to find a different route - the same as set backs in life. It considers how some people have luck, but others have worked hard and references famous people such as Ronaldo, Beyonce and Nadia Murad (You could add more such as Walter Disney and barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey). Whilst some things seem massive and beyond us, it is important for us to always challenge oursleves - inventions in the past were built on resilience and failures and trying again. With this ever changing world, students are asked to consider the fact that jobs of today may not exist tomorrow.
There are links to NCW and virtual work placements for students, as well as some fun slides around “jobs for everyone” with some “strange jobs”.
This will need tweaking to your own schools (photo of school) and your ethos etc but should give you a good base to start. I have used “Don’t stop believeing” by Journey as an entrance song.
