A bulk of 5 lessons SOW. This is a 5/6 lesson resource made for my Year 8 classes. It will come after their Year 8 Exams in the summer term and so we don’t have long left. There’s room for scope with assessments etc if you need longer lessons. The aim of this SOW is to encourage Year 8 to think about their Options over the summer holidays and be ready to pick GCSE RS at the end of the Autumn term. It guides students to think about RS creatively, linking in other subjects that challenge our numbers such as History - so we can show where are skills meet - and the lessons are as follows (with the DVD Hidden Figures shown at the end end). It also shows how this links to our curriculum map that you can adapt for yourself - everything we do builds into GCSE and Year 8’s need to be reminded of that! Any video clips used are available for all on YouTube as a public domain. The idea and inspiration for this SOW is all my own trying to boost GCSE numbers in the future. This is a SOW of 7-9 lessons incorporating the book ideas from The Colours We Share by Angelica Dass and RE Services Today. The ideas of how to make this work are all mine and include a creative set of lessons at the end with painting for skin tones and display of diversity. There’s scope to play with this and make it work for your own classes/cohort. Also included are references to Black History Month. This is a SOW challenging racism and discrimination and promoting equality and tolerance. Year 9 have really enjoyed it! Any video clips from YouTube are free for all to access in public. Using the second section of the textbook - Resurrection - I have done three lessons to Year 12 relating to a) concept of the soul b) resurrection of the flesh c) spiritual resurrection. They include little thinking activities and unpacking the dense information from the textbook that can seem bland and hard to follow - lots of pictures in my resources and links to Youtube videos.

Using the chapter summary at the back of the endorsed A Level textbook. I only have three lessons to introduce this topic before the summer and I want Year 12 to complete bridging work between Year 12 and 13. This is a useful resource to give where there are activities and links to videos online / news articles relating to the topics. A way of flipping going through the course and outlining all at once in a booklet for students with space to make notes. They need to hand in their booklets at the start of Year 13 (September). We’ll then go through the chapter again - even more-teacher led and time for AO2 skills.
