Two problem sheets for A-Level physics students studying rotational dynamics as part of engineering physics. These are supposed to challenge students to think more about problems rather than just apply a single simple equation. The first activity is based on the Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy, and is a good overview of the whole Rotational Dynamics unit and useful for revision. The second focuses mainly on Rotational KE and links this to specific heat capacity.

This is an excel spreadsheet that supports the activity described below, students seem to enjoy this activity for the competitiveness of it. This is only the "board" if you will for monitoring the "game", you will need to create or source a variety of tasks, to suit whatever topic you are revising. I've used crosswords, worksheets, and sequencing tasks. You select a variety of tasks that students need to complete, and give these to students. Students then attempt these tasks and earn "money" for each they get correct. To promote students thinking, they have to "buy" resources that will help. The winning group is the one with the most money at the end. All the costs etc. can be changed to fit the profile of your class. You will have a constant stream of students wanting things checked and scores updated, it is a fun (but exhausting) activity.

A Tarsia (triominoes) puzzle featuring all the required equations (plus SHC) for the AQA Physics GCSE. Questions need to be matched to answers, the individual questions are fairly easy, so should be accessible to all levels. The puzzle as a whole will need a lot of determination. Solution and original Tarsia file included, which can be edited or printed in different formats using the software available online.
