Rotational Dynamics Question Sheets

(0)
Two problem sheets for A-Level physics students studying rotational dynamics as part of engineering physics. These are supposed to challenge students to think more about problems rather than just apply a single simple equation. The first activity is based on the Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy, and is a good overview of the whole Rotational Dynamics unit and useful for revision. The second focuses mainly on Rotational KE and links this to specific heat capacity.

Electronic Seat Picker and Seating Plan

(0)
This is an excel spreadsheet set up to act as a seating plan, seat picker and rewards/sanction system. There are two room layouts (A classroom with 3 desks across and 5 deep, and a science lab with 5 long benches). These can be adapted, but you'll need some knowledge of macros in excel. This has proved excellent for pupil engagement!

Filament Bulbs Experiment

(0)
A lesson based around resistance and temperature, looking at the IV graph of a filament bulb. This includes step by step instructions for a practical activity along with a blank table of results and some example results.

This tough question sheet is aimed at the very brightest of GCSE students such as those aspiring to study A Level. This sheet draws together knowledge of Transformers, Motion (the hard equation), energy, power, and for the cherry on the cake application of trigonometry. Worked solutions included.

Revision activity competition template

This is an excel spreadsheet that supports the activity described below, students seem to enjoy this activity for the competitiveness of it. This is only the "board" if you will for monitoring the "game", you will need to create or source a variety of tasks, to suit whatever topic you are revising. I've used crosswords, worksheets, and sequencing tasks. You select a variety of tasks that students need to complete, and give these to students. Students then attempt these tasks and earn "money" for each they get correct. To promote students thinking, they have to "buy" resources that will help. The winning group is the one with the most money at the end. All the costs etc. can be changed to fit the profile of your class. You will have a constant stream of students wanting things checked and scores updated, it is a fun (but exhausting) activity.

AQA Physics Equations Puzzle of Problems

(0)
A Tarsia (triominoes) puzzle featuring all the required equations (plus SHC) for the AQA Physics GCSE. Questions need to be matched to answers, the individual questions are fairly easy, so should be accessible to all levels. The puzzle as a whole will need a lot of determination. Solution and original Tarsia file included, which can be edited or printed in different formats using the software available online.

Phase Difference and Superposition

(0)
This Excel file allows you to manipulate up to three waves, showing these independently, together and Superposed. Variables that can be adjusted and Amplitude, Frequency and Phase difference. The file is protected to prevent accidentally messing it up, but there is no password, so you can unlock and edit it if you wish.

Online learning checklist setup instructions

Convert your existing Learning Checklists into online versions that give a quick overview of how all students in your class are performing. What you are buying is a link to an instructional video that takes you through how to turn your existing learning checklist into something that can be updated by students from practically any electronic device. The video then explains how you can collate the results of what the students have done together into one overview spreadsheet that will remain up-to-date with any changes the students make. Perfect for saving the planet, and not needing to look at individual student checklists. See the attached images for an example of what this may look like when implemented. You will need a fairly good grasp of Excel (nothing too fancy VLOOKUPS are useful for this as is ) and a Google account ideally linked to your school (you can setup on a personal google account, but you’ll need to be more careful from a GDPR standpoint).
