UNIT OVERVIEW In this unit you will work in the following areas to create a 2D or 3D outcome with the subject theme of ‘Bugs’ Explore drawing techniques Explore tonal drawing techniques Explore pattern and texture Work with a variety of different media, techniques and processes - such as ink blot art, sgraffito, watercolour painting, collage, 3D card construction and mixed media Learn and write about the work of various artists such as Andy Warhol, Levon Bis and Wanda Shum Learn about the style of art called ‘Steam Punk’ and make links to history and the Industrial era. Make creative design choices using resources Develop designs into 2D or 3D outcomes Reflect on your work and make links to the work of others This resource is lesson two in the unit and under the theme of bugs, students will explore and practice hatching and cross hatching as a form of tone. Make creative design choices using resources Develop designs into 2D or 3D outcomes Reflect on your work and make links to the work of others This is lesson 1 of the unit and looks at continuous line drawing, a great way to warm up the students and develop observational drawing skills for the rest of the unit. This is a 1 hour lesson that looks briefly at sustainability with regards to fossil fuels and renewable energy. Students have some questions to answer and then they design an ego friendly house. All resources are provided on the two worksheets which can be printed and handed out.

This is a 1 hour cover lesson that looks at the inspiration behind graphic designs. Students look at the style of Pop Art and use this style to come up with a brand name and design for a gift bag based on a festival of their choice.

This is a one hour lesson where students look at different fonts and typography. They will create a range of ‘word art’ drawings based on onomatopoeia’s, using creative drawing techniques.

A hr lesson on the history of sensory testing, different types of testing and class activities including how to create a star chart. Students will also test the attributes of an apple and chocolate and create a food profile based on a star chart.
