SEND Reward Chart

(0)
Visual reward chart for SEND/behaviour support. Children choose a reward and earn stars for positive behaviour throughout the day or lesson. This reward chart is a highly visual and structured behaviour support tool, designed specifically for children with behaviour difficulties or special educational needs. Created using Widgit InPrint, it uses clear symbols, simple language, and an accessible layout to ensure all children can understand expectations and stay engaged. At the start of each lesson or school day, the child chooses a reward from a personalised selection based on their interests—such as extra playtime, a preferred activity, or a small privilege. This builds motivation and gives the child a clear goal to work towards. The chart breaks the session into manageable steps or targets. As the child follows instructions and demonstrates positive behaviour, they earn visual stars, providing immediate feedback and reinforcing success. The consistent structure supports children who may struggle with processing language or changes in routine. By focusing on positive reinforcement, the chart encourages confidence, independence and pride in achievement. Simply print, laminate and use velcro to use and reuse this chart daily.

Street Child Writing Unit - Victorian London

(0)
This English writing unit is aimed at Year 5 and is based on the book ‘Street Child’ by Berlie Doherty. It immerses the children in 1860s Victorian London. Through a carefully sequenced series of 20 lessons, children explore the text using drama, speaking and listening activities, and a range of short writing tasks that build key skills in characterisation, setting and narrative voice. The unit ends with an extended independent narrative write, where children apply their learning to plan and write the the main character’s daring escape from the clutches of the main antagonist. Designed to develop both creativity and historical understanding, this unit supports children in crafting purposeful writing while deepening their engagement with the text.
