A complete unit of English work for Year 3 pupils, based on the fiction book ‘Storm’. The 14 lessons in this unit use creative activities and discussion to help pupils engage imaginatively with the text. Pupils will develop their spelling, punctuation and grammar skills, with a focus on opportunities for pupils to develop their vocabulary. The aim of the unit is to develop pupil’s story writing skills, providing them with the opportunity to write and edit their own story with a focus on the setting/s. Sessions are differentiated to suit a range of pupil abilities, however, feel free to adapt to your class. This is an introductory lesson on 3D shapes – cone, cylinder, cube, cuboid and sphere. It teaches the key mathematical vocabulary and naming and identifying 3D shapes based upon their properties. It is a hands-on, well-differentiated session, catering to different abilities within the classroom. The resources include a lesson plan, PowerPoints for the teaching input, as well as the activity worksheets including a challenge task. The main PowerPoint also includes links to external educational videos, including a 3D shape song. This lesson was used in an observation and received excellent feedback!
