Create, Write and Draw! – Creative Morning Work & Early Finisher Activities
Make morning work more exciting with Create, Write and Draw! A collection of fun, imaginative writing and drawing activities designed to get children thinking creatively, developing their vocabulary and enjoying writing.
This resource is perfect for morning work, early finishers, independent activities or a weekly creative writing session.
I originally used these activities with my Year 4 class as part of our weekly Imagination Wednesday routine. Children would arrive in the morning, settle down and get straight into creating, writing and drawing. Before taking the register, I would randomly select four children to share their creations with the class. It quickly became something the children looked forward to!

How to use it
Simply display an activity on your interactive whiteboard and let children get creative!
Children can work independently in their books or on paper. You could use one activity each week, introduce it as a morning challenge or keep the slides available for children who finish their work early.
My favourite way to use it: Make it an Imagination Wednesday tradition! Choose four children at random to share their creations before the register. It’s a lovely way to celebrate creativity and give children an audience for their writing.
Suitable for KS2, particularly Years 3 and 4. It could also be adapted for other year groups.
Happy creating, writing and drawing!
