Based on a 2016 SATs question I have created a variety of different shapes in quarters, eighths, twelfths, sixteenths and so on to shade 3/4 of each. This is differentiated into 4 different challenges. Challenge 1 - shapes into a variety of quarters and eighths Challenge 2 - shapes into a variety of quarters, eighths, twelfths Challenge 3 - shapes into fractions up to sixteenths and different variations Challenge 4 - Complex shapes and problem solving (find different ways) This resource is based on a mastery approach to teaching fractions. It has been used in a Year 5/6 class as an independent activity incorporating SATs level questions.

Mastery lesson on multiplying fractions by a whole number. This has been used in a mixed year 5 and 6 class. Differentiated into 3 challenge levels with an extra extension task.

Word problems for multiplication and division. These are aimed at Years 5 and 6. The resource has been differentiated into 4 challenge levels. They are linking to the topic of Bears but can be easily adapted to any topic. Feedback is welcome.

A mastery lesson using "ping-pong" style teaching with concrete, pictorial and abstract approach. Differentiated lesson into 4 challenge levels.

Using short division and short/long multiplication pupils will solve area problems of squares, rectangles, triangles and parallelograms to find out the secret message to"In battle, hoplites fought as a team. They lined up in ranks and locked their shields together with just their spears pointing over the top. Solve the area problem below to find out what this formation was called." This includes year 5 and 6 objectives and can easily be adapted to suit learners. It is working towards a mastery approach where different mathematical concepts are used (area, multiplication, division and problem solving). This links to Ancient Greek topic but the code can be suited to any topic.

A whole set of times tables challenges for up to 12x and a mixture of tables. Platinum award tests multiplication knowledge and division facts. These are used as a whole school approach in a school.

A whole set of times table challenges for up to 12x tables including a mixture of tables. Gold award is tables in a random order with missing box calculations to complete. E.g. 5 x ? = 10 This is used as a whole school approach.

In this resource children are expected to calculate the area using a written method or multiplication. They should choose their method and solve at the appropriate level. This is differentiated into 4 levels. Suitable for Year 4 upwards but can be easily adapted to any age group.

Whole lesson on using BIDMAS calculations to provide a given angle to be measured out using a protractor. Activity: Provide the calculations to be solved by pupils. Then they draw using a protractor the given angle on the Angry Bird pictures.
