KS3 Geography - Geographical Skills Scheme of Work (Fantastic Places)
Student booklet, Teacher booklet, PPTs, and diagnostic assessment for a Geographical Skills Topic framed as ‘Fantastic Places’ to spark interest and inspire awe around the subject. Suitable for the first Year 7 topic at KS3.
The lessons are titled:
What is geography?
What makes a place ‘fantastic’?
How do maps help us find and understand places?
How tall is Mount Everest and how far does the Great Wall of China stretch?
Can you create your own ‘fantastic’ place?
Revision
The lessons cover core skills such as grid references, latitude and longitude, field sketches, map symbols, OS maps, scale, contour lines. Each lesson contains a lesson summary, key academic language, core knowledge questions, a variety of tasks from categorising, multiple choice, use of geographical skills, and a final independent written task per lesson.
The teacher booklet and PPTs contain all of the answers to the tasks with additional challenge tasks for students that finish a task early. Each lesson is designed for a 100 minute period - however can be split into 2 x shorter lessons if required.
