Connect 4 - SPaG sentence revision game

A game of Connect 4 where if a player wishes to place a counter, they must first write a sentence with that SPaG feature in the square. Currently based on Year 3 SPaG requirements but easily editable to suit any year group. Great for revising SPaG that’s already been taught. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Please leave a review if you found this useful. Thanks very much.

Minecraft Trading -Addition and Subtraction money revision game

Excellent game for children to learn addition and subtraction in an exciting and engaging context. This lesson allows you to see easily as a teacher who is able to work fluently with addition and subtraction. The set up allows for faster grasping children to work mentally while other children can practice other methods such as the formal method. As children are ‘buying’ lots of material, they also develop their fluency with multiplication. This is a very successful lesson for getting children using money. It has been used for Year 2 - Year 5 classes due to the depth available. Year 2 focus simply on adding coins and calculating change, further up school they look into strategies for profit. It works best in mixed ability groups. Have fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Please leave a review if you liked the resources. Many thanks.

Word classes SPaG game - Battle ships

Using the classic game of Battleships, children have to try and find all of their opponents words. Great for practising nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs etc. I have used this game with Years 2 - Year 5, all have found it very entertaining and has supported their SPaG work greatly. Can be used to focus on particular word classes or a mixture. I have used it for focusing on dictonary and thesaurus work, such as finding all words that begin with M or synonyms for run. Players write their words on the left hand side of the page, first in the words section then place them on the grid either vertically or horizontally. The right hand side grid is for working out your opponents words. If a shot missed put a cross in the whole box. If shot hits, write the letter in. Discover all of your opponents works and you win the game. If you find it useful, please leave a review. Many thanks
