A line isn’t always straight. A line can move and groove. A line can dance along the page up and down, side to side. a line can wiggle, spiral or loop. Take you line dancing as you practice moving mark making tools with purpose and control. A fun simple and active guided mark making activity for learners to develop fine motor and pen control. Students will follow along using their mark making tools to take a line dancing. Make the line loop, wiggle and curve. Use it on screen for the students to follow along copying the changing patterns as you explore the different dance moves a line can do. This can be used with many different sensory mark making tools, tracing the patterns in sand or flour or large paper with pens, brushes or chalks. Could also be printed as book with a section to trace then a space to copy free hand and a space to doodle and draw their own mark making patterns and moves.

A fun, interactive sensory story with a social theme for the start of the new year. Celebrating our similarities and differences within a group to learn to work together as a class/ friendship group. Message of how it takes many different colours to make a rainbow and many ingredients to make a cake. Different things working together can make great things. Each page has simple text and image and an idea for a sensory input to support. Using all our difference senses to explore the theme of working together and celebrating differences.

A multi-sensory story using all of our senses to explore the world around us. Actions to explore movement, sense of smell, slight,taste, touch, sound and basic emotions through an interactive sensory story.

A visual template to sort shapes and colours. Visual/written instructions asking the colour, shape and amount. For example find 1 yellow circle. A blank space to place the shapes. Choose which slides to print to differentiate. Option for: words and symbols together or just the written word. Options for request a specific number, shape and colour/ the shape and colour or just the shape. An additional page of shapes to cut out to choose from. Scatter the cut out shapes and ask the learner to read the instructions to put the appropriate shape/amount/colour into the blank space. They are a4 sized but if your print 2 or 4 per page then they will fit better in a tuff tray with the shapes scattered in the middle. Cut and stick to use as evidence of the learners recognition of the shape, colour, number for laminate for repeated use and practice. I use them with coloured stickers brought off amazon which also encourages fine motor and differentiation between colours.

Number templates 1-10 Trace the numeral and word for numbers one to ten. Colour or cut and stick on the gird to show the value. A4 sized but can make smaller by printing 2 or 4 to a page. Could be used to collect evidence of the learners recognition of the numerals/numbers. Or laminated to be used to practice skills.

A multi-sensory exploration of the alphabet exploring letter formation and sounds from a-z. Each slide shows the letter formation and included a rhyme/ alliteration or phrase and an action to support recognition of the sound. Print to use as a book or scroll through on the screen. Learner can see and trace the shape of the letter as the adult names and sounds the sound while tracing the letter formation on the learners back. Then a massage action to go along with the sound and phrase. Developed for my class of sensory learners who really enjoyed the Story Massage songs. They responded really well the the massage walk through of the alphabet. Enjoying the joint attention, the contact and the alerting/ relaxing/ calming and engaging movements. As a repeated activity it has helped to learn the order of the alphabet, letter formations, exploration of sounds and alliteration and build positive relationships with learners and staff.

A template to use and store object of reference schedule. Objects not included but a list of potential ideas of what you could use for each activity (objects will need to be personalised). A double widget template with a symbol/ picture box in colour and then a matching symbol in black and white on the otherside. Velcro over the black and white and stick the object to it. Learner will see both symbol and object which will help them learn the symbol to recognise this when ready. Additional black and white visual makes it easier for staff to know what goes where if things get lost.

An ice-cream bowl and circular coloured letters to look like neopolitan ice-cream scoops. Put a picture on the front of the bowl and have the learners build the ice-cream Sunday by ordering the CVC letters and spelling the word. A black page for you to add your own extra words if desired.

A-z with a prompt to read the sound, write the sound and find a word using the initial sound. With each sheet the learner will learn to recognise, form and sound each letter of the alphabet.

UPDATED to the correct format. A simple mark making dance based on the Colour monster. Using different styles of music and different mark making patterns to match the emotions of the story. Each slide has it’s own colour, mark making patterns a style of music to move the pens to.

A sensory retell of the Easter story. Visuals, and ideas for children to explore the easter story, with plans to set up stations/ activities for each part of the story. For example tasting the bread and juice, an empty tomb to explore, and ripping the curtain.

A simple story about Ramadan and the lead up to Eid. With cartoon like animations alongside each slide. The story explains how Muslims will fast during the day and the Suhoor and Iftar meals. The story explains the focus of charity, kindness and giving to others during Ramadan. The story explains the preperations for the celebrations in a simple a clear way.

Santa has fallen asleep, the house hold items make noise to wake him up. an interactive sound story for young learners. using common items like paper to rustle, a ticking clock and stomping boots items around the house try to wake up Santa in a repetative rhyme story. Children can use the items to make noise. When they do not work the children must join in and shout louder and louder to wake up Santa so he can continue to deliver presents.

Power point story with text and widget assisted symbols to support emergent readers. Sound effects for each page and a sensory input for each page of the story. Visual boards to support comprehension to show what the learners can see or hear as you explore the story.

A mark making dance told to a simple story about dinosaurs. Simple short sentences with rhymes to make it fun and fast. Encourage the learners to copy the moves of the dinosaurs with the bodies then to retell these moves with their mark making tools. Space on the page to trace the pattern then to free hand practice the pattern. Can be used as a prompt on the board for group drawing or printed out for individual mark making dances. I have a similar dinosaur movements sensory story that will go well with this activity.

An interactive write dance themed around different bird calls. (Useful for national bird watching week.) Each page has an image of a different bird with their sound and a short action rhyme about their sound. Each page has a hand movement for the learners to strengthen and warm up their hands ready for writing. Each page has a mark making pattern to mimic the sound of the bird and a rhyme of how to write it. This can be followed from a powerpoint or printed to be used 1:1 allowing the learners to trace the mark making pattern and then a space for them the draw the pattern independently.

A power point for shape identification. Themed around birds for the upcoming national bird watching week. Starting with a video of a starling murmuration the learners will calm and ready themselves for learning as they watch the birds form different shapes in the sky. Going through the power point the children will see binoculars which will then disappear to show a murmuration of birds in different shapes. A circle, a triangle, a square, a rectangle, a diamond and a hexagon. The learners can use the provided printable to point and say which shape they see in the sky. Once the learners have shared their answers an outline and name of the shape will show the answer so they are self mark and correct if needed. The final two pages can be printed to be used as a matching activity matching the murmuration shapes to the outlines. Follow up activity idea the learners using tea leaves on light board to shape their own murmuration shapes using the printable stencils.
