Lesson 2 - Unit 1 Religious Freedom and Religious Expression Lesson defines both key words/ideas. Allows pupils an opportunity to discuss ways people might choose to express their religion. Main task involves identifying UK laws on religious freedom and expression, matching meaning to commonly seen religious clothing or symbols and an opinion based task based around the Burka ban in France.

Introduction lesson for Key Stage 3 drugs education. Group work activity where pupils imagine these drugs aren't yet on the market. They have to argue the advantages whilst the rest of the class ask questions and judge whether they should be classified as safe for the market. Resource exploring homosexuality in the UK. Begins by exploring non-religious ideas in the UK and how attitudes are changing - Discussion of music video 'Immediate response' starter sheet to provoke discussion (thoughts/observations) - Commonwealth and Stonewall. General attitudes and how they are changing (fact finding), brief look at the Marriage debate in Ireland (video embedded from YouTube) and unpicking a news story followed by active learning group task for understanding Christian Attitudes to Homosexuality. Grid of different Christian teachings with quotes and teachings for pupils to find and organise. Exam question to finish. All work sheets and resources included in ppt. Scheme of work on Charity and Good Deeds. Includes introduction, Charity Awards lesson, Random Acts of Kindness, Charity Around the World. Various tasks including active and cooperative learning, independent work, group tasks, deeper thinking and showing progress over time. Tasks are differentiated and all lessons aim to engage all pupils. Culminates in an Act of Random Kindness project for pupils to complete.

Lesson used with mixed ability Year 7 class. Groups are each given a piece of information and must write a speech/presentation about this reason people do/don't believe in God. Reasons are: No evidence, evil and suffering, unanswered prayer, answered prayer, miracle and religious upbringing.
