Current musicians/bands which have been literally translated into French. Students can use dictionaries to translate and work out the name of the singers/groups. e.g. 'Ajouter L' would be 'Add L' - Adele! Ideal for a fun, end of term challenge / part of a carousel of activities. Those in bold are trickier and should be said aloud to get the sounds and put them together. Answers provided on separate sheet.

Powerpoint to introduce 9 personality adjectives (kreativ, nett, faul, intelligent, schüchtern, lustig, musikalisch, sportlich, laut), description of hair, height and build. Slide 1 - Er hat or Er ist starter Slide 2 -shows the 9 adjectives for students to guess and consider pronunciation Slides 3-11 -images to represent the adjectives Slides 13-21 'funny' pictures- student faces the class and guesses the adjective demonstrated by the image. PowerPoint to introduce 13 rooms of the house. Slide 2 a list so students can guess some, and discuss m/f and possible pronunciation. Then one room per slide, with repetition every few slides. Slides 20-22 images hidden behind shapes. Slides 23-35 images appear gradually and students put hand up when they know what it is. Slide 36 partial images-could be a starter. Slides 37/38 objects you would find in certain rooms. Slide 39- other rooms to match. 40-students mime an action and partner guesses room. 42-anagrams-could be a starter. 43- students guess words for different floors. (44 is correct order). 45 true or false sentences about the house shown.

PowerPoint to introduce 6 French personality adjectives (bavard, marrant, sportif, paresseux, ennuyeux, timide). Starter is a match up j'ai/je suis exercise. Students then see the 6 adjectives and work out the ones they know/can guess. Masc/Fem differences can be discussed here. Then a series of images to clarify meanings, followed by 3-part questioning, a mini-whiteboard exercise whereby students write the correct adjective to describe the person shown. 'Images amusantes' can be used in various ways- I would get a student to stand with their back to the board and guess which adjective was being shown -class shouts 'non!' or 'oui!' Final slides give students support with adding connectives/qualifiers/time/frequency phrases to sentences e.g Monsieur Thomas est vraiment sportif et toujours marrant.
