Part 1 - Mary Before Christ’s Birth highlights the Catholic Church’s teaching on Mary the Mother of Christ and shows why they venerate her with such tremendous fervor. Mary is truly the mother of Christ and the Church, which is us. She was the first believer, the purest creature God ever made and we are called to say ‘Yes’ to God as she did at the Annunciation and throughout her earthly life. Catholic Social Teaching needs to be taught to all students if they are to grow in compassion for their fellow mankind. In an increasingly narcissistic world young people should be challenged to act in solidarity with the poor and to seek justice for all of God’s Creation.

Mary was the only person to be with Jesus from His birth to His Passion, Death and Resurrection. She willingly suffered with her Son on His road to Calvary just as Simeon had predicted and she stored many things in her heart along that journey. Some teacher notes are added along with one music sequence.

Mary is the Mother of the Church and therefore our mother. Praying for her intercession for what we need and want in this world brings Glory to God and is what Jesus desires us to do.

This is an extension of 6-7 slides of Part 3 with emphasis on Marcellin Champagnat and his love for Mary which is reflected in his life, work and education of poor children in France during the nineteenth century. Champagnat saw God at the centre of life and the Virgin Mary as a sure means of guiding people to her Son Jesus.
