Aimed at a foundation GCSE group by could be adapted for higher with another column for nth term. Students must use the information that they are given to fill in the table, there is an extension on the second page and answers given. This should follow after they are introduced to different types of sequence and understand their definition. Please let me know of any mistakes or possible improvements, I will develop one for higher too.

Euro 2016 Bearings and Scale Drawings and Standard Form

This lesson is based on the on-going Euro 2016 football tournament in France. I have made it as a fun resource for my high ability year 8 class but it could be adapted for other groups. The presentation contains videos about the tournament to keep the children entertained and would hopefully not be too off-putting for those who do not enjoy football. The first task is related to bearings and scale drawings by using a map of France. All scales and locations of places are approximately correct. The second task is using the capacities of stadia in the tournament. There is a video on the stadia on the Powerpoint, to be played before the task. It contains questions on Standard Form, Mean and Range, and Percentage change. I wanted to try to challenge my class to use other topics which they have not done in class for a while. Please tell me if there are any mistakes or suggestions and I will rectify them. I hope that you and your pupils enjoy the resource, and more importantly, the tournament!
