The following resource contains the key information in an engaging and informative PowerPoint that is ready for you to use in an assembly (as i did) or in the first introductory session of EPQ. Amendment: Please note that this is a whistle-stop overview of EPQ which contains 5 slides that briefly introduce and pitch the course. It was intially created for my own use where the brief was ‘5 minutes to sell it’. If you require a longer assembly and want help in expanding on certain points I’d be happy to chat. I do realise it is ‘short and sweet’ hence the very low price point.

The 6 pre-recorded clips or 'Captain’s Announcements ', focus on the events of the day of the sinking of the Titanic. These short clips can be used to help structure a monologue, an improvised performance for a one off lesson, or a piece of creative writing. You will receive: • 6 Audio files; each a different announcement from a moment during the Titanic’s sinking. Please note that these were scripted by myself and saved as .mp3 files and therefore need a compatible system in order for them to be used. • A transcript of each file with a description of the moment in the Titanic’s sinking timeline that it relates to. Originally a part of a larger SOW where KS3 students were asked to test their characterisation skills by reacting in -role to a series of announcements; I have adapted this unique resource to be used as you see fit in your own teaching practice.

This document provides a broad overview of topics to cover within the EPQ. it was written based on my own experiences teaching and planning sessions for the AQA EPQ Qualification. I hope that it will be useful to teachers who may be new to the qualification. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with AQA in any way and this is not a definitive guide; I simply wanted to share some of my own experiences to hopefully help others new to Teaching this subject. I would highly recommend visiting the resources on the exam board site and looking into the various teaching materials and training that they offer as I found them useful when starting out.
