Add a bit of magic to your Y6 transition! A complete project to be taught to year 6’s on their Maths transition lessons or days (obviously can pick and choose and only use 1 or 2 lessons) 4 standalone lesson powerpoints with an accompanying booklet. Will need a booklet printed for each pupil. Each lesson has a separate topic and Harry Potter theme! Lesson 1 - Gringotts Bank - mainly long multiplication applying to a problem Lesson 2 - The time-turner - Time questions and problem solving activity Lesson 3 - Potions with snape - A proportions lesson (tweaked from a lesson added on here by Amanda Goddard) Lesson 4 - The Horcrux Hunt - A treasure hunt with a mix of wordy questions to discover the Maths department! All clues and answers contained on the ppt. Lessons are also differentiated by N.E.W.T. (more challenging) and O.W.L. work. With some Triwizard challenges to try!

A project intended for a week of lessons aimed at the whole of year 8 in our school but lots of differentiation opportunities so could be any KS 3 group (goes as far as quadratic sequences if needed to challenge the most able). Includes some Isometric drawing and sequences work. See teachers notes at end for ideas for use and differentiation. Suggest you print slides 3-9 and laminate for pupil reference.

A summary/revision sheet to be completed by the students to help them recall the 6 different graph transformations. Suitable for able GCSE groups (note: does include stretches parallel to axes) or A Level Year 12. Uses an analogy of a dragon and a caged dragon to recall which one is which, this analogy is always enjoyed and found useful by the students.
