PP of time measurements & how to convert between minutes/hours. Lots of different activities/worksheets for student of different levels to have a go at. I usually do the Wallace é Gromit warm up as a group activity (dependant on ability, I may do this as a whole class) I would not say it is a warm up, as takes longer than you might think! My current lessons are 1 hour, so I sometime do this over 2 lessons. I also do a 'create a knockout football tournament' I tell the students that there are 10 team, each game is 30min, and there are 3 pitches.

I try to emphasise their own weights and heights (so they can relate other weights and measurements to them), get them to complete conversions, but make a point of BMI not being aimed at under 21 - also that rugby players are classed as Obese on the scale

Card sort of some celebrities - can easily be adapted to make more relevant. The class will work in pairs/small groups to order the celebrities salaries, also to make an educated guess as to what their salary may be. Once theirs has been done the celebrities will be brought up onto the board (un-ordered) nominated learners will read out the actual salary - demonstrating place value. Another student can then be picked to work out the celebrities age.

Mainly aimed at Functional Skills as a revision task. Coverage includes: To be able to convert between metric units To be able to use simple formula to convert between metric and imperial units To be able to work out the volume of an object To be able to calculate the weight of an object To be able to work out the mean average of a set of data To be able to solve problems involving time Exam style task based on recent events in my life, so very Functional. This could also be adapted to allow the students to do their own "How many in a minute" part, but just need the pennies. This task took most of my students a lesson. This is a quickly thrown together lesson to encourage learners to think about Sport relief 2016 and to encourage them to find what math is involved. Aimed at Functional Skills with a few facts and figures for them to research themselves before then going on to create some of their own.

Place Value game cut up the Celebrities and encourage students to discuss the jobs and potential annual income - note that Donald Trump is as President, not CEO. Awarding body for exam questions is Eduquas
