This is a selection of the main topics covered in Year 9 Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSE syllabi. In this selection there are literacy mats and glossaries on Atomic Structure, Bonding, Cells, Cardiovascular System and Diseases, Digestive System, Electricity, Energy, Particle Model, Periodic Table, Plant Tissues and Organs, and Quantitative Chemistry. Each consists of a Powerpoint slide to be printed off in A3 and laminated to be placed on the desk beneath the GCSE questions that students are given for practice, and a printable Word document glossary with the main keywords for the topic that can be stuck in at the start of the topic and filled in as students progress through. The Literacy mats contain Keywords and descriptive definitions, Command words and what the questions are asking for, Useful verbs and adjectives, Connectives, assistance with Comparison and Graph questions, a checklist of what to improve on their answers, and an area to write their own notes with a whiteboard marker.

To be used after basic plant reproduction has already been introduced and the idea of a fertilised ovum growing into a seed has been established. Will recap where a seed comes from, how they are dispersed and different types of seed.
