Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales: The Knight and his son, the Squire. PowerPoint introductions to the characters. Description of the Knight with Middle English side by side with modern version. Coat of arms template - design coat of arms for the knight, reflecting his experiences and interests. Used with Year 7 low ability group. Strange to have Chaucer as an author in the prose group when he writes in rhyming couplets and was once known as the father of English poetry!

It is important that the students do not know the topic before you show the ‘What is it?’ slides or they will obviously guess it’s gum! Range of issues, from history of gum chewing to the economic consequences of careless disposal, finishing with some amazing gum artwork.
