Aimed at Y7 students following the White Rose scheme of work. This does not “teach” but allows for practice to maintain fluency with lots of in built problem solving (Don Steward, Nrich and others - please let me know if you know who) Stretched and challenged my high ability Y7s with SATS scores of over 110. Designed to encourage discussion etc in the first couple of weeks of a new term.

Third topic in my lessons for a low ability Y11 in the run up to exams (follows on from BIDMAS, substitution and linear graphs). Informed by theory with lots of AFL (thank you Diagnosticquestions.com), misconceptions and targeted practice. Alternative to cramming by teaching skills that used in may contexts. (It worked!) Taught over one lesson but part of a sequence. Lessons my own but resources are drawn from many sources that I can’t accurately remember. If you know, please tell me so I can give proper credit.

Part of a masters module on whether mastery tuition can outdo cramming (it worked!) Guided and teacher lead because of the low ability of the students. Uses diagnosticquestions.com and PiXL resources. part of a series of lessons including BIDMAS, Substitution and linear graphs designed to give key skills that are used in multiple contexts.

These were taught to low ability Y11s after Easter and focus on transferable skills (it worked!). Other lessons include BIDMAS, substitution, plotting graphs and midpoints. Handout with bullet points to guide through complicated steps and drawing triangles to find the gradient. Intended to give understanding but at a foundation level. AFL (diagnosticquestions.com) misconceptions, targeted practice and exam questions (AQA). If you know the origin and I haven’t credited the author, please let me know.
