This resource is a PowerPoint presentation that covers the Aerobic Respiration (4.4.2.1) information on the 2016 AQA Respiration specification. The structure of the lesson is as follows: 1) Starter: Students have 3 minutes write down as much as they can remember about respiration on your A3 piece of paper. They then have 5 minutes to move around the room magpie-ing ideas from the other groups. There is a class discussion to find out what the groups have found out. 2) Think-Pair-Share: What is Respiration used for in the body? There is a PowerPoint slide with 4 pictures on. The students have to work out, using these pictures, what reparation is used for in the body. 3) True or False aerobic respiration activity. All answers included. 4) There are 3 experiments that, if you have access to, it would be great to order for this lesson to allow the students to investigate the by-products of respiration. These are : 1) Students carry out Huff and puff 2) Students observe Respiration train (woodlice/maggots) 3) Students observe wet vs. dried peas in flasks However, if you are unable to order these experiments, it does not affect the learning of the lesson. The PowerPoint has pictures of these experiments, with the conclusions included. The students can look at the pictures and work out the conclusions from those. There is also a worksheet that goes along side this activity. 5) "Rearrange these words to make the word equation for aerobic respiration. Peer assess each others." 6) "Rearrange the following to make the chemical equation for aerobic respiration. Peer assess each others." 7) Plenary Task- Answer the key questions activity. This resource is a PowerPoint presentation that covers the Competition over Abiotic factors (4.7.1.2) and Biotic factors (4.7.1.3) information on the 2016 AQA Ecology specification. This lesson is fairly simple in structure, however my students have really enjoy it as it gives them the opportunity to work in groups to create presentations, which they then use to teach each other. You will need the students to have access to the new AQA textbooks for the new specification. The basic structure of the lesson is as follows: 1) Starter- Key ecology definition match up. This links in with the Communities lesson I have up loaded and checks their learning. 2) 15 to 20 minute mini presentation making activity. 3) Students present to the rest of the class. 4) Assessment activity- Questions from the AQA text book. 5) Plenary- Triangle Activity. This is a worksheet that I hand out to the students at the end of various lessons. It has also been noted as an effective tool during my observed lessons. I print this resource two sheets to one A4 page and ask the students to stick it into their books afterwards. When the question that they would like to know is answered during the following lessons, I ask them to go back and write the answer on the triangle. A great way of demonstrating learning progress. This one is for the Ecology topic, but it can be adapted to any lesson. Simple, but effective. I hope it is useful.

There are three versions of this differentiated worksheet; Grade 7, Grade 8 and Grade 9. Each begins with a differentiated gap fill of the key information covering tobacco, nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide. The Grade 7 has the first letter of each word given and the other worksheets do not have the first letter. There is then a different differentiated key question on each of the worksheets depending on the Grade (7 = Explain, 8 = Assess, 9 = Evaluate).
