Simple display to support fluency with halving of multiples of ten. The representations use base ten materials to help address the common difficulty children have with halving multiples of ten that have an odd number of tens. The display utilises stem sentences as an aid to remembering the mental process for halving.

These documents are a trimmed down version of the Ready to Progress Criteria for schools to use as Parent informetion booklets. They focus on the key strategies, language and representations to be used so that parents can understand what the expectations are for children in a particular year group, the approaches used in school and how they can support their children’s development in mathematics. They do not contain the assessment questions from the original guidance.
