**E3 **Functional Skills of Mathematics: Foundations of Understanding.
SHOL & D Publications — Siraja Home Organisation’s Lifelong Learning and Development:
Mathematics begins long before we pick up a pencil. It begins in the rhythm of our footsteps, the patterns in the sky, the balance of a bridge, the shape of a leaf, the quiet counting of our breath. Numbers are not strangers — they are companions we have always known.
This book invites you to rediscover them.
E3 Mathematics is a gentle doorway into understanding. It is designed for learners who are building confidence, strengthening foundations, and learning to see the world through the lens of patterns, shapes, and simple truths. Every page is crafted to help you grow steadily, calmly, and joyfully — one idea at a time.
Here, learning is not rushed. Here, mistakes are stepping stones. Here, curiosity is celebrated. Here, every learner shines.
At SHOL & D Publications, we believe that learning is a lifelong orbit — beginning at home, expanding through community, and reaching into the universe. This book reflects that belief. It blends clear explanations, visual reasoning, and cosmic imagination to help you see that mathematics is not just something you do — it is something you live.
As you move through these chapters, you will explore:-
• Numbers as patterns
• Shapes as stories
• Reasoning as a superpower
• Everyday maths as everyday magic
At the end of the E3 FS Maths book, you can find additional revision examples and practice questions on the topics of
1] Add subtract WORD PROBLEMS
2] Rounding off Numbers
3] MULTIPLICATIONS of Decimals by Integers
4] Illustration Image of LONG DIVISION_Q r D Summary by Bus Shelter Method.
5] LONG DIVISION_Problems
Each concept is a small spark — and sparks, when nurtured, become stars.
So take a breath. Open your mind.
Step gently into the universe of numbers.
Start small. Start here. Even the stars began as tiny sparks.
