I have made this resource as an extension for my higher ability top group Year 10 students who are confident in expressing any number as a product of its prime factors. When they are working through this task it will give me time to give additional support to those who still need help find HCF and LCM from Product of Primes.
As an extension to finding products of primes some of my higher ability Year 11 group needed stretching with this topic.
They found using product of primes to find square roots and cube roots of very large numbers a fun task.
The algebra task also reinforced the methods for finding HCF and LCM.
As a teacher of a very weak Year 7 group who I saw once a fortnight it was best to use worksheets.
The Check up on Reflection worksheet was a great starter and made good display work for those who finished quickly - they then had to add colour.
The translation sheets were also good for students to work at their own pace and to reinforce the need for neat diagrams using rulers and pencils.
A basic introduction to finding the equation of a tangent.
This assumes students already know if two lines are perpendicular their gradients is a product of - 1 and have the ability to find equations of lines by substituting into y = mx + c
A simple starter to get students to think about the methods learnt for how to find the equation of straight lines.
My students seldom go over their work in their own time, so these starters force them to check back in their notes and it is useful to give them time to tidy up their notes or recap - and a good way to help those who miss lessons find out the basic of topics missed.
