This resource works well alongside primary pupils consolidating what they are learning in numeracy as well as for older pupils approaching this topic in French for the first time.

When printed out the booklet has the phrases in French and space for the pupils to translate into English. Discursive Writing Answerbook has the English translations so could be given simply as a vocabulary resource but I have used this version to display the translations on the Smartboard. The reading comprehension gives the pupils a taste of what is expected and guides them through structuring their own writing as well as introducing useful phrases. I have used the marking instructions to discuss with the class how the examples fulfil or fall short of the standards. They can then refer to these when writing their responses to the sample questions.

There are 16 files in this pack which can be used from mid-primary as a learning resources right through to senior pupils for revision. I have printed out the Numbers Vocabulary on A5 (reduced with 2 on an A4 sheet) to stick in the vocabulary notebook or the back of the jotter as a reference. The Powerpoint files contain the vocabulary for Spanish numbers for beginning learning or as revision. These can be used instead of handouts for pupils to note in their jotters. There are also problems to solve. As an aid to the worksheets and whiteboard problems is the Number Grid which can also be printed out for reference. I use the 'Numbers - Writing’ activities as starters or as useful revision for senior pupils. There are 3 worksheets along with answer sheets and 3 wordsearches with accompanying answers. Also included are bingo cards and a number writing starter powerpoint.

When printed out the booklet has the phrases in French and space for the pupils to translate into English. Directed Writing Helpbook Completed has the English translations so could be given simply as a vocabulary resource but I have used this version to display the translations on the Smartboard. Directed Writing Practice Translations contains English texts which are designed as an introduction to putting the writing together using phrases found in the Helpbook. Pupils may have to make some minor alteration to gender, pronouns, verb endings. Directed Writing Practice Solutions are the French translations, based on the Helpbook, of the above. I have found this to be a really useful resource over the past couple of years and it has had good results. I have mostly set it as homework and revised in class but it also lends itself well to group work. It not only builds vocabulary but enhances translation and dictionary skills.

Resources to teach the vocabulary around part-time jobs. It includes a Powerpoint to introduce the vocabulary and emphasise pronunciation with a couple of exercises: unjumbling translations to match French and English phrases and sorting positives and negatives into columns. There is a vocabulary sheet with space to complete the English and one which has been completed with French and English for the teacher to decide how they prefer to deliver it. Also, a reading comprehension exercise with 4 short texts and 15 questions to answer along with an answer sheet. Q&A talking cards with illustrations on how to answer the questions - the A4 sheet can be cut up and handed out for displayed on screen - along with a key to the illustrations and, again, an ‘answer sheet’.

24 files introducing classroom and school items. The vocabulary is split into 4 groups, introduced through the Powerpoints. There is then a worksheet and a wordsearch for each group of nouns. In each Powerpoint there is a grammar note for relating to indefinite and definite articles and plurals. Each worksheet and wordsearch is accompanied by an answer sheet. There is also a homework sheet for pupils to practice the vocabulary and a sheet for vocabulary notes (again with a completed version). This resource is a good first lesson in French as the vocabulary encompasses many sounds and highlights the differences between the singular and plural. I hope you find this helpful.

This booklet aims to assist pupils in their preparation for the National 5 writing exam. It contains example letters with comprehension questions; a comprehensive vocabulary which can be completed as a translation exercise; sample questions from past papers and marking instructions to allow pupils to measure their performance.

There are 13 files in this resource which introduces and consolidates the vocabulary for parts of the body. I have taken a different approach with this topic. Instead of a presentation I have allowed the pupils to 'discover' the vocabulary themselves. Starting with the French pronunciation exercise (1), they are learning how to recognise sounds and pronounce unfamiliar words. They find key vocabulary in the dictionary skills activity (2). This is enhanced by work on nouns, recognising masculine or feminine and a brief review (or introduction) of how to form plurals (3). The translation worksheet (4) has implausible sentences in French and should access prior learning of numbers and allows for using all that has been learned in the previous activities. Also included is a visual starter activity, a wordsearch and 'bodies' to print out and label. Answers and solutions have been included where appropriate.
