Short SOW to prepare learners for the Spoken Assessment Element of the GCSE English Language Specification. I introduced the 5 S structure as a way to support learning - this was a structure to use for their own spoken assessment but also for Paper 2 Q5. Please note that originally the content was created for COVID and remote learning but very easily adaptable to classroom teaching.

Focuses on bringing characters to life when describing phyiscal appearance. The lesson takes learners through developing their own writing by an I, WE, YOU model with a success criteria.

A lesson introducing anecdotes to help pupils with Paper 2 Question 5. Pupils go through a simple anecdote to a more complex anecdote discussing what makes one version better than the other. Worksheet included too.

Here are few steps which might make the lesson clearer: -Report on the image they see on the board using 5 sentences -Models of writing which tell and writing that shows (pupils identify which is stronger and discuss why) -Essentially the model example is the difference between the DO NOW starting activity and what pupils should achieve by the end of the lesson through the layering. (The grid version is perhaps easier for low ability groups? But layering for HA pupils) -Pupils take each sentence from DO NOW to improve using the layer grid on the slide. RAG represent how difficult the technique is. I use this as an incentive for my pupils as the more difficult techniques are worth points.
