Full scheme of work with 18 lessons (plus two empty lessons for assessment feedback), covering conflict poetry with a particular emphasis on WW1 and WW2 poems. Each lesson follows a clear structure to build understanding and analytical skills in relation to poetry. There are two assessment points built in - one of a single poem, one a comparison of two poems. This is great preparation of the skills needed for GCSE poetry. It has been primarily taught to year 8 students and is pitched accordingly, but would also be suitable for year 7 and 9 students. Each lesson contains appropriate extend activities to build challenge for students and deepen their understanding. All poems are also included as resources on the PowerPoints.

A full scheme of work for A Christmas Carol include 33 lessons (3 of these are assessment lessons that can be used anywhere within the scheme and 3 of these are revision/consolidation lessons on themes). They are aesthetically pleasing lessons that are clear and concise, limiting visual and cognitive overload; and have been aimed towards mixed ability students, with enough challenge to engage high ability learners and enough scaffolds for those in need of additional support. Please note, a small handful of lessons refer to “close analysis” or other sheets - these have been removed from the lessons as they were resources from Stuart Pryke and Amy Staniforth’s Ready to Teach A Christmas Carol and I was unsure of the copyright implications so removed these resources.
