A sequence of lessons on Frances Hardinge’s The Lie Tree, to accompany a reading of the book. The lessons are focused around the first half of the book, with discussion points and a number of activities around context, comprehension and language. There are 8 lessons in included in this pack with accompanying resources and a sheet for new vocabulary. Lessons were designed for a mixed ability Year 7 class, but can easily adapted to support other age groups/abilitues.
A scheme of work for Shakespeare’s The Tempest, with each lesson focused on a scene of the play with activities and discussion points. Each lesson has a starter activity of a word, fact and riddle/dingbat of the day attached. Lessons have focuses on the following scenes:
L1 - Act 1 Scene 2
L2 - Acts 2-3
L3 - Act 3 Scene 2
L3 - Act 3 Scene 3
L5 - Act 4
L6 - Act 5
L7 - The End (nice consolidating map making activity)
The scheme was designed with a middle ability Year 8 group in mind, but can easily be adapted for other age/ability groups. The first two lessons were made for remote learning so may need some adapting for in person teaching - all the rest are ready to go.
Two lessons on The Haunting of Hill House, with accompanying activities. Lessons focus on analysis skills and techniques such as alliteration and personification. Lessons were designed for mid-high ability Year 7 class, but could easily be used and adapted for other age groups/abilities.
Used to help plan and structure KS5 essays, mainly used for AQA English Literature Aspects of Tragedy but easily adaptable. Helps students maintain their focus on the question by utilising the idea of a ‘golden thread’ that runs throughout their writing, linked by an opening and conclusion.
