Lessons in conjunction with OCR History A Civil Rights int he USA 1865-1992 textbook produced by Heinemann (textbook required for 1 activity).
Various tasks relating to the social and economic status of African Americans between the end of Reconstruction and up to WW1. Also included oppression from KKK & lynchings, as well as development of movements- Niagara and NAACP. Some focus on key individuals but requires pupils own research. Notes can be made from textbook referenced above.
Worksheets also attached for certain tasks and additional reading.
Disenfranchisement covered through literacy test also attached.
Lesson finishes with essay taken from OCR exemplar paper but modified for content covered so far. Pupils to create plan in lesson and complete essay at home. Example essay written and on slides for pupils to assess and understand mark scheme.
