Perfect for a Year 7 or 8 class, exploring how to create tension in performance.
Includes activities such as Teacher in Role, Body as Object, Sequence Tableaux and Script exploration.
This engaging and interactive PowerPoint resource is designed to support students preparing for Section A of the Edexcel GCSE Drama written exam, focusing on the play DNA by Dennis Kelly. The 1 hour 30 minute session incorporates a range of retrieval and application activities using mini whiteboards to build student confidence in recalling key content and applying performance and design terminology effectively.
The session includes:
Quick-fire recap tasks on plot, character and themes
Mini whiteboard sprints for vocal, physical, and performance skills
Exam-style 4, 6 and 9-mark questions with planning support
A plenary quiz to reinforce key knowledge and exam technique
Perfect for final revision, mock prep or in-lesson reinforcement, this resource promotes active participation, peer discussion, and effective exam strategy through drama-specific language and techniques.
This is a resource I have used to teach GCSE students completing Section B of the Edexcel Exam, specifcally having seen War Horse.
You could easily take the resource and edit it to fit the live production you have taken your classes to see by editing the pictures and content of the slides. This provides a good outline for what the students have to write about and how to structure their exam notes.
