3 Lessons: DNA & Protein Synthesis
Three lessons including:
Do-now starters
Slide animation
Chunks of information
I do, we do, you do slide structure
Worksheets
Cool down activities: taboo and word splat
Assessment for learning: know it, grasp it, think it
Covers:
Structure of DNA
Triplet condons
DNA to mRNA practice
Translation and Transcription
**The comic strip template is from beccaboobahbay **
**Feel free to adapt and change :) **
Atomic number and atomic mass worksheet
Atomic number and atomic mass worksheet.
Answers included.
Students will only need the periodic table to find the names of the elements.
Let me know if there are any mistakes to correct!
DNA Extraction Practical
Slides to help with extracting DNA from soft fruit
I normally get pupils to do a crossword or play bingo while the mixture is in the water bath.
KS3 Cell Division/MRS GREN
Lesson made for a mixed ability group of year 7 pupils
I start off by asking if pupils have heard of MRS GREN from KS2.
I then use the photos as prompts to ask the pupils what all organisms do.
It then leads into cell division which links to growth from MRS GREN.

TRF23, JLmorgan100 , MokaMo392, Madmister K
OCR B1 GCSE Biology Revision Mat
OCR B1 GCSE Biology Revision Mat
Page numbers correspond to Oxford University Press Student Book.
Please edit the word doc as you please.
Created for bottom set year 10 foundation combined science.
Made 2020
Breathing and spirometry
Made for the Applied General Science BTEC but equally the same content is covered at BTEC sport and AS level biology.
The last few slides are just for extra information.
Smoking and Asthma Lesson
I normally print a template of a fake newspaper front page out for this lesson with the title already on it.
This saves the pupils wasting time with a bubble writing title.
-Retrival questions,
-AFL with a focus on literacy
-Pupils can peer mark or teacher collect in.
Y7 biology booklet: cells and reproduction
I have collated many different resources together into one biology booklet for year 7 pupils.
I do not claim to own all of the original worksheets.
Covers:
To describe plant and animal cells
To name the parts of a microscope and make and view a slide of a plant cell
To make a model cell
To explain how cells divide
To understand what happens when cells work together.
L.O. to apply knowledge and make informed decisions
To investigate skeletons
To describe how plants reproduce
To describe the structure and function of specialised cells and organs of the reproductive system
To describe different types of fertilisation
To describe the steps involved in fertilisation and afterwards
To explain the role of the menstrual cycle
To describe the stages of the development of the foetus
To create a storyboard describing foetal development
To describe how the mother’s lifestyle can affect the developing foetus
To design an informative leaflet on lifestyle during pregnancy
To sequence the stages of the birth process
Separating techniques worksheet with ans
Answers included
Borrowed the chromatography diagram from TEs user hannahradford
Introduction to plant and animal cells KS3
Year 7 lesson introduction to plant and animal cells.
Starter,
AFL
Mini quiz
Print the diagram and table from the PPT to use.
Reacting Metals with Water, Alkali Metals, Group 1
Made for KS3, reacting metals with water including the alkali metals.
I usually do a demo of the metals after discussing the properties of alkali metals.
They will practice writing/balancing equations and then we will move onto the practical of reacting calcium with water and collecting hydrogen gas.
Introduction to DNA and Codons KS3
-Where is DNA found?
-Triplet code
-Starter,
-Tasks
-Plenary
Made for year 9 KS3
History of the Atomic Model Worksheet
Print out the time line for the students.
They can either:
Go around the room and collect information,
Complete the task at home as homework,
Research information to fill the time line
Or simply sit and listen to the information given to them.
It depends on the class really!
I will include my information sheets to go with the worksheet in the next few days.
I think it is useful to complete the worksheet and, then go into the gold foil experiment in more detail and only then start to compare it to the plum pudding model :)
Fractional distillation gap fill
Fractional distillation gap fill. Often the trickier seperating technique for pupils to grasp.
OCR C1 Unit Chemistry
OCR C1 Unit Combined Science
For foundation and higher
Entire powerpoint for the unit, including do-nows, worksheets, assessment for learning for different abilities etc.
