Understanding Decimals Worksheet for Key Stage 2

(0)
This worksheet is designed to introduce the concept of decimals and their relative size. Students write the number in the place value grid and shade in the correct number of squares in the diagram. The diagrams show the true dimensions of tenths and hundreds relative to whole numbers. When the students are secure with linking the number to the image, the second sheet asks them to do it the other way around. They are given a shaded diagram and are asked to determine what number is being represented. This resource could lead on to ordering decimals. The worksheet has a plain design, so that it will work equally well with secondary students who need a refresher on understanding the concept of decimals.
