2 week unit for Narrative/Retell of the story. (Shortened version to 5 sentences) This could be extended to allow longer for each sentence and publishing. Includes elements of Talk for Writing with story mapping and opportunities for oral composition and dictation.

A full 3 week unit for Year 1 children (Could easily be adapted for Y2 children) to write a narrative using a page from the book to complete the ending of the story then following on by creating their own independent story to match the style of the book. This was thouroughly enjoyed by the class and one that allowed their imagination and ideas to flow! We used this in Summer 2 when writing stamina had improved the most.
