1/2 termly unit of work based around the book Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver.
I taught to year 5 but equally could be used for year 6 as cross element of objectives.
All flipcharts are scaffolded, with questions and activities linked to text including daily SPAG starter to ensure practice of SPAG skills.
I have included all resources for the lessons that would be needed as word or PDF files.
You will need access to copies of the text, ideally 1 between 2. There is a lot of class reading which you could , depending on your class have as independant or home learning chapters.
I have taught this two years in a row now, so have re-edited each time, childrn absolutely loved and had some excellent examples of writing across all three units.
Whole school SPAG coverage map
Details what each year group could be taught each half term to ensure even coverage of the curriculum across spelling and grammar aspects - some are week by week.
As a English lead you then know what the coverage across the school is, who is responsible for introducing and reintroducing aspects of grammar and spelling. Links to the National Curriculum Programme of study.
These pair up with the key word checklist i have made.
We give each child a set - on the corresponding coloured card for them to take home and practice.
They play matching games, sight bingo, look, cover, check etc
Non negotiables for writing from EYFS to Year 6.
What we expect children to be able to do consistently by the end of the year for each year group.
I made these so that parents had clear expectations of what we expect in writing for each year group - feedback from them has been good. (They praised how it was clear and with examples so they felt they could support writing at home).
There are obviously more things children may need to do in line with NC - but these were the main points so parents were on board.
We also set the bar high - so you may need to adapt in line with your schools expectations
KS2 assembly written for a whole school assembly. 27 parts in total, although easy to adapt.

I have taken the year two expected CEW's and linked them to handwriting - this goes alongside the other resources I have made - this being adapted for left handed pupils.
I have linked the Year 4 spelling and CEW to our handwriting program. This booklet goes alongside the right hand booklets I have already produced on here - but is specifically for left handers as they can see the words whilst writing.
Easy flashcards that can be used as table mats when printed A5, or as a display that children can access easily. I bluetacked mine so my children could choose the one they wanted take it back to their desk for spelling purposes.
I also used whiteboard markers to star certain words especially connectives that i suggested were applicable for that genre.
Vocab ones we also had blank ones so children could write their own words to add to the display
I have planned and made a unit of work for Autumn 1 term of 6 lessons using the spelling rules for UKS2 from the national curriculum.
These consist of Active Inspire flips for each spelling pattern, including rules on how to remember them.
I have included spelling lists where appropriate of some suggested words.
I have taught from this from the past two years, adapting over time.
I usually do 1 spelling rule per week and set children the task for homework to learn and research other words that follow the rule - then give them a blind test the following week.

A presentation on English and how best to support children with their learning including new expectations from interim documents. In Powerpoint and PDF version.
I ran this as English Leader at my school for parents to inform them of changes and how to support their children.
I used this recently to inform our parents of changes and the feedback was that it was very useful.
I have had to take some images out due to copyright but have left suggestions of what you could import to enhance
