Discussion based lesson looking at key figures before Darwin, allies and critics and later evidence for Darwin’s theories of evolution. Addresses scientific arguments as well as religious ones, on both sides of the debate. Looks at key historical figures such as Lamarck, Wilberforce, Huxley. Primarily for GCSE Biology but would be good for expanding students’ understanding of how scientific knowledge evolves. Includes links to physics - Kelvin and Rutherford play an important role.
