This is a creative activity that would work really well as a back to school icebreaker or task for early finishers. In this low steaks task, students should complete the drawings to create a completely new object. This is not a _________, this is a __________!

This interactive resource helps your children to understand life after the abolition of slavery. You are a slave recently freed due to the abolition of slavery. Now you get to make your next choices and see what happens. Each choice adds or subtracts points from your score. This resource helps students to evaluate whether life was different after slavery and if the 13th amendment was a positive/negative force.

Apparently I made online dating profiles for Elizabeth I’s prospective boyfriends! :/ We decided whether to swipe left or right and used this as a prompt to discuss reasons for her choosing to stay single. Try writing down pros and cons to each match eg. pro=a king (ally and power), con= protestant. Really good oracy based activity that helps to scaffold students thinking towards why Elizabeth I didn’t marry.

Back to school icebreaker. **Word has it that everything can be defined as a soup, salad or a sandwich. ** Have your students debating over which is which in in this activity. Great for oracy, debate and reasoning skills. I use it at the start of the year as it gives you a good feel for the characters in the room.
