Two Year 7 Lessons based on Welcoming students to Drama and Getting to Know students. This resource is ideal for non-specialist teachers as the lessons include detailed explanations of warm up games which are planned within the lessons. Lesson 1 - Welcome to Drama: Includes prompt questions to get to know students and to set out routines in the classroom. 5 C’s of Drama - Communication, Confidence, Creativity, Concentration and Co-operation. At the end of each Drama Game is a slide asking students to reflect on which 5 C’s of Drama they have used and how. Lesson 2 - Getting to Know you: Includes a reflection of the 5C’s of Drama from the previous lesson Detailed instructions of how to play 4 more drama games which encourages students to get to know each other. I also have for sale a whole booklet of Drama Warm Up Games which can be used by non-specialist teachers as it includes detailed instructions how to play the games in KS3 Drama lessons.

This resource is a booklet of over 50 KS3 Drama Games / Warm Ups that can be used with Year 7, 8 or 9 classes. For each game I have written detailed and specific instructions for the teacher / non specialist explaining how to lead each activity. The activities are split into different categories so that you can pick and choose which game you would like to lead with the group, such as Introduction / Name Games, Co-operation and Energetic games, Communication and Interaction games, Concentration and Focus games, Trust games and Improvisation games. Many of these games can be used for older / KS4 students too and adapted for more difficulty / challenge and can be link to a theme / topic. The detailed instructions for each game / activity are easy to follow and a collection of all my own work, gathered over the years. The booklet can be easily printed and given to support non specialist teachers if required.

This resource is a whole unit of work aimed at Year 7 as an introduction to Comedy and Mime. This unit of work contains 6 or 7, 1 hour lessons. The file includes a detailed Scheme of Learning written instructions and 6 PowerPoint Presentations, plus a homework activity, extra printable resources for the group work and help sheets which can be used / edited for SEND students. The tasks in each lesson build up on basic Comedy and Mime skills, Slap Stick and exploring Character Stereotypes and works towards an assessment where students create their own Silent Movie. Included in the lessons are activities for both solo, paired and group work which students can perform and reflect on at the end of each lesson. The lesson slides include detailed prompts for teachers to question students to reflect on their practice and highlight subject specific keywords throughout the topic. There is also included some ‘independent learning’ tasks where students can reflect on what they have learnt and write their answers either on paper / in books. At the end of the unit of work there is a detailed Assessment Sheet which uses the grade descriptors Working Towards / Expected / Greater Depth (but could easily be changed for your setting). There is also an end of unit Evaluation Sheet and reflection for students to complete. This resource would be perfect for a non-specialist teacher of Drama who is looking for an easy to ‘pick up and teach’ scheme of work, already prepared and ready to go. A full unit of work based on Greek Theatre and Greek Myths, aimed at Year 7 students. Included are 5 (could be stretched to 6 / 7) one hour lesson Power Points, a detailed scheme of work document with specific instructions how to lead each activity, a homework task and an end of unit assessment sheet and extra help sheets / resources for keywords and evaluation reflection. The scheme of work explores the Greek Myths of Thesus and the Minotaur through Soundscapes and Still Images; the Greek Myth of Oedipus through Choral Vocal techniques and Pandora’s Box using Exaggerated and Stylised Movement. The end of unit assessment challenges students to use all the different techniques they have explored in their own Greek Theatre performance. This resource is ideal for non specialist teachers of Drama who are looking for a ‘pick up and teach’ scheme of learning as it includes all the resources necessary for teaching with minimal preparation. I have developed and refined this scheme over a number of years; it has been very successful with Year 7 classes and they have thoroughly enjoyed the exploring the different Greek Myths, leading to fantastic student outcomes.

This is a tailor made and bespoke KS3 Drama Taster Session / Transition Activities for Year 5/6 transition day. The powerpoint includes activities of a planned 1 hour session based on the theme of ‘Little People, Big Dreams’. In the session students will discuss dreams and aspirations they have for starting Secondary School and work together as a group to bring these to life. There are a number of warm up activities / drama games included which can be played to get to know students - all of which have instructions for non-specialist teachers if needed. The session links to the play Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations by Alan Ackbourne and uses the opening speech as inspiration for students to create their own dream sequence using Drama Conventions. The Powerpoint is all my own work, used and developed over a number of years in Year 6 Transition days and has been adapted for ease for non-specialist teachers. It can be edited to personalise to your own school / trust.

This scheme of work is aimed at Year 7 or Year 8 and is based on the theme of the Titanic, exploring using Drama conventions / techniques in a performance. There is enough work in the scheme for 7 or 8 one hour lessons. Included is a detailed breakdown of lesson plans with full instructions so that the scheme can be taught by anyone including non specialists. There are interesting Powerpoints which include images, video links and are also clear enough for SEND students. There are accompanying resource materials which you can print for differentiation including character profiles, a planning sheet and model example for the assessment and key lines to help students create a successful performance. There is a detailed assessment grid which I use for this scheme but this can edited for your own school’s wording. This has been a highly popular scheme of work that I have used with mainly Year 7 students for a number of years. This is all my own work and has been developed and changed over the years to provide the best outcomes for student’s learning.
