This is a Phase 2 phonics workbook that takes children through all 23 sounds in the usual Letters and Sounds order, Set 1 to Set 5. Each sound has its own picture, so a child has something to hang the sound on: s is for sun, a is for apple, ff is for sniff and so on. Every sound gets four pages: 1. Letter formation. Children trace the letter, then write it on their own, saying a short phrase as they go. 2. Rainbow writing. Two big outline letters to trace over in different colours, plus circling the sound in four words. 3. Blend and read. Each word is split into its sounds with a button under each one, and there's a sweep arrow to run a finger along. There's also a short caption to read and a tick-the-words activity. 4. Write the words. These have phoneme frames, with one box for each sound rather than each letter. So sock gets three boxes, not four. There's a caption to trace and copy at the bottom. On top of the sound pages you also get: • a contents page with page numbers, so you can find any sound quickly • a short how-to-use page • a chart of the letter formation phrases • sound flashcards and word flashcards to cut out • blending fluency strips for each set • a tricky words page for the, to, I, no, go and into • an assessment tracker • a certificate for when they've finished It’s 112 pages in total and it’s just print and go. An illustrated social story about winning, losing and fairness for KS1 and KS2 children who find competition, loud celebrations or rule-breaking hard. Barnaby Badger loves rules and likes things to be fair. But at the Forest Games, things don’t go his way. Fern the fox wins the running race, Rosie the rabbit celebrates very loudly, and Benji the beaver starts the sack race too early. Barnaby gets a “hot, cross feeling”, and the story gently shows him what he can do next. What is a social story? A social story is a short, simple story that describes a situation a child finds difficult. It explains what other people might be thinking or feeling, and suggests helpful things the child can try. They are widely used to support autistic children and children with SEND, but they work well for any child who struggles with big feelings. A quick ten-minute check that shows which children are secure in place value and which are reaching the correct answers by counting in ones. Part A partitions two-digit numbers into tens and ones. Part B asks for 10 more and 10 less. Part C asks the child to explain which digit changes and why — the part that reveals genuine understanding.
