Starts with a History ‘story’ to hook the pupils in. Introduces Allied and Axis Powers and the countries involved. Pupils need to locate the countries on a map and colour-code them. HOTCLUB - geography link: they work in pairs to explore the hemisphere, oceans, continents, etc. for each country involved. Chronology - pupils need to order events chronologically from start to finish. All resources provided, including the History WW2 knowledge organiser.

PowerPoint and full resources planned for a year 6 class but suitable for KS3 as well. Making inferences from photos of Auschwitz - what can you see? What can you infer? Listen to Arek’s story from BBC Bitesize and use this to aid their diary writing. A WAGOLL is provided as well as a structure strip (to aid SEN pupils) and a vocabulary bank. The PowerPoint allows you to plan together and then write and focuses on two detailed paragraphs.

Bar model - multi step questions

We have been working on using bar model when answering multi-step problems (year 6). There is a short Smartboard, which has 4 examples you can model through and then the sheet requires them to apply this to 4 similar problems. We used this in a half-hour booster session but it can be edited to last longer.
