A revision map designed to provide clarity to the types of bonding encountered within the WJEC GCSE topic of ‘Bonding, structure and properties’. This is a resource designed to help pupils to easily recognise the different types of bonding: ionic, covalent and metallic bonding, and to relate these to the physical properties of the materials (giant covalent, simple covalent, ionic and metallic). This has been prepared and used personally for year 11 class revision in collaboration with past paper questions, and has been successfully used for different ability classes.

This resource can be used as a revision resource within the classroom, or at home. Pupils can use it alongside dedicated past paper questions, as a stand alone resource, or for group work activity. Included is a concise slide that covers all the necessary detail needed to answer exam questions effectively, and another slide that offers further explanation to support deepening thinking. There is also a prompter slide for use as a plenary activity, to promote thinking on the different factors that affect rate of reaction.
