Trip of a Lifetime: End Of Year KS2 Play

(0)
Trip of a Lifetime is an end-of-year Y5 and Y6 KS2 play, perfect for children who are fans of murder mystery or have read books like The Swifts in school during the year. Written by myself, the play is about a school trip where the children are stranded after their school bus mysteriously breaks down. After taking residence in a murder mansion, the children have to find out who the killer is… drama ensues! This is my first original play after adapting Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, and the response from the parents was fantastic. Incorporating a mixture of adult and genre references, alongside humour the children can relate to, Trip of a Lifetime will ensure that your KS2 children have an end-of-year performance that won’t soon be forgotten. As a part of the play, our companion text was The Swifts: A Dictionary of Scoundrels, which allowed the children to access many of the murder mystery tropes and spoofs. We also designed our own programmes to go along with the play, and practiced oracy exercises to help them deliver their lines. Character names are references to Leicester landmarks… of course, these can be changed, as well as the teacher names! Cast count is 26 children, though this can be adjusted by adding more narrators. Song performance is Time Is Running Out by Muse.

Romeo and Juliet KS2 End Of Year Play

This is a KS2 satirical spoof of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, written for use as an end-of-year play for Year 6. As it was written for my class, the cast is for 26 children, though certain roles could be split or extended (such as the Chorus) or added in from the original play, as it is abridged. This play can help the children gain a basic understanding of the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, including rewritten versions of original lines for the children to understand their context. The play includes popular songs to break up the action, such as Queen’s ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ and ‘Tragedy’ by Steps. Of course, you can remove these if it doesn’t fit. The resource creator is a KS2 teacher who just happens to have a love for creative writing and drama - and I’m sure, if you’re here, you’re a teacher who doesn’t want to pay out of the ear for a script! Enjoy!

Macbeth KS2 End Of Year Play

This is a satirical comedy spoof of Macbeth written as a Year 6 end of year play. The play takes a modern and humorous look at the original Macbeth story and can be used as a companion piece for teaching about William Shakespeare and the original play. The play has 26 parts (as I teach in a small school) but some parts could be altered and extended to fit a larger cast. The play includes songs by the band ‘Queen’ throughout the play for the children to sing as well.
