Students are given an equation sheet in the exam now. That hasn’t made the calculations easier! They’re no longer losing marks because they can’t remember E = mgh. They’re losing them because they pick the wrong equation off the sheet, can’t make the right quantity the subject, or substitute kilojoules into an equation that needs joules. This free A3 placemat helps with exactly that! FRONT Foundation and Higher. Eight questions, single-step rearrangement only. Includes two questions designed so that two similar equations both look plausible, because that’s where selection actually breaks down. BACK Higher only. Five two-step problems with a “route map” scaffold: which equation first, what it gives you, which equation second. Plus a unit conversion ladder and three conversion questions. Also includes a symbols and units key, because students are handed a sheet full of Greek letters and no way to decode them. No formula triangles anywhere. Rearranging is taught by balancing.
