This project-based learning unit explores the diverse individuals who make significant contributions to our local communities and societies. Through research and multimedia projects, students will develop their descriptive language skills, cultural awareness, and appreciation for civic engagement by highlighting real-life heroes and their stories. The material includes two folders in PDF format, beginner level aimed at A1/A2 CEFR ESLL or EL in native communities, students with learning/attention/behavior/mental difficulties, and the intermediate level presents a more challenging approach to the theme and more extensive student choice projects aiming at B1/B2 CEFR ESLL learners. This material is purely in English and can be used for native speakers of varying cognitive levels.

This PBL unit explores the diverse individuals who make significant contributions to our local communities and societies. Through research and multimedia projects, students will develop their descriptive language skills, cultural awareness, and appreciation for civic engagement by highlighting real-life heroes and their stories. The project plan includes learning objectives, project and inquiry focus, real world connection, multiple ways of representation and expression with selected student choice products, assessment method focus, aimed at intermediate level (B1-B2 CEFR for English learners). This plan also includes an adaptation for EL and A1-A2 CEFR ESLL, with adjusted learning goals, creative and low cognitively and linguistically demanding student choice products. There is an elementary and intermediate grading rubric included, reaching from A1-B2 CEFR learners. This project can be used for native speakers, the grading rubrics might need to be adjusted.

This Project-based Learning unit investigates how seasons influence our environment, cultures, and lifestyles around the world. Through inquiry and creative expression, students will analyze seasonal patterns, explore cultural traditions related to different seasons, and produce a class magazine that highlights their findings. This plan includes the learning objectives, the project and inquiry based focus, the real-world connections, multiple ways of representation and expression, tasks for formative assessment that are differentiated for beginner, intermediate and advanced English Learners, assessment focus and differentiated grading rubrics for the three levels. This plan is aimed at A1-B2 CEFR learners, rubrics can be adjusted for native speaking contexts.
