Baroque Concerto arranged for Class Ensemble
Introduce all students to the wonderful soundworld of the Baroque era, with this flexible, inclusive arrangement of Sammartini’s Recorder Concerto, created specifically for GCSE and mixed-ability classes.
Includes:
MP3 audio
Full conductor’s score (PDF) and solo recorder part (could be comfortably played on most melody instruments - give to your most experienced performer or play it yourself)
4-part flexible classroom arrangement with piano accompaniment
Simplified versions of Parts 1–4 and piano part (ideal for less experienced players)
Guitar and bass tab versions
**Xylophone parts **for drummers/singers who don’t play melody instruments
Designed for maximum adaptability, this resource allows every student to take part, regardless of their instrumental background or experience. It’s the perfect introduction to a topic on Baroque music/the concerto (GCSE: OCR, Edexcel, Eduqas/A Level: AQA), or developing students’ confidence in ensemble musicianship.
The arrangement lasts for 1 minute when performed.
It could even work at KS3 if the class played the xylophone parts (on xylophones or on keyboards) and you had a very able soloist/played that part yourself.
Achievable in a single lesson - takes around 60 minutes to bring it together, and can be even faster depending on the experience level of your students/whether you give them their parts for homework in the previous lesson
Differentiated and adaptable for all levels of ability
Encourages ensemble skills and stylistic awareness
Supports performance, listening, and score-reading
Ideal for use in class, small ensembles, or enrichment groups
Engaging, inclusive, and ready to use - this arrangement helps every student experience the joy of performing a Baroque concerto together to build experiential knowledge.
